The first question that some less than computer savvy people may ask is what exactly is a wireless web camera? The wireless webcam record images and transmits them to a receiver, typically a computer. In other words, you can record video images almost anywhere without the benefit of wires and those images could potential be seen everywhere, depending on where you broadcast it.
Most computers are windows based, however, if you are a mac user, you can still get a mac wireless webcam. That is your best bet to ensure that your wireless web cam is compatible with your computer. Regular PC users can enjoy a variety of products from various manufacturers. The Linksys wireless web cam, Panasonic’s wireless web cam and the Logitech wireless webcam are just three of the many products out there. When the original web cam first came out, many people used it to try and see loved ones across the internet and even talk to them via a microphone and VoIP protocols. And of course, web cams found there way into the more risqué markets as well. Well, the wireless webcams still cover those two bases along with a whole host of applications. Here are some of those applications for the wireless web cams: 1. Home or office security – You could install a wireless web camera in strategic places in your home to keep an eye on your kids when they get home before you do or even to monitor how a babysitter or nanny is doing there job. If you were home, a battery operated wireless web camera installed in an inconspicuous place near your front door, will let you know who is there and if you should pretend to not be home or not. 2. Remote viewing – Have you ever taken a virtual tour over the internet? Well, those tours are achieved thanks to wireless web cameras. If you wanted to see what the weather is like at a vacation destination or how the surf is doing at the beach, you could access a website that posts these video feeds and pictures. These places have wireless webcams installed in strategic places so it can seem as if you were almost actually there. 3. Straight feeds – Some wireless webcams do not need to be connected to the computer. Instead, they can be hooked up straight to an Ethernet or some other type of cable and viewed straight onto the internet. Many of these types of wireless webcams have an IP address. Some wireless webcams have the ability to record both full and still videos. In addition, these cams also can simultaneously send the images to your computer as well as archive them as well. One such wireless webcam that can do this is the Eyeseeall wireless webcam with video capture. For inconspicuous, almost sneaky recordings, you could use a mini wireless web cam that is camouflaged within another object like a lapel pin, picture frame, stuffed animals or even inside a plant pot. Wireless webcams can be a lot of fun because of their portability and lack of wires. |
